Donated Items and No-Resale Policy

At Lucy and Bert Bully Sanctuary Inc. (known as “The Bully Sanctuary”), we are incredibly grateful for the generosity of our supporters. Every donated item plays a vital role in helping us care for, rehabilitate, and love the bullies in our care.

To maintain transparency with our donors and protect the integrity of our mission, we strictly adhere to the following No-Resale Policy:

Intended Use of Donations

All physical items donated to The Bully Sanctuary—including but not limited to food, treats, toys, bedding, crates, leashes, and medical supplies—are accepted with the primary understanding that they will be used directly for the care and comfort of our sanctuary dogs or for operational sanctuary needs.

Community Outreach & Giving Back

Depending on the type of donation, we recognize that some items may better serve the wider community. We reserve the right to give donated items away for free to community members in need. This applies in situations such as:

  • Surplus Items: When we receive more of a specific item (like kibble or blankets) than our sanctuary dogs can currently use.

  • Specialty/Dietary Restrictions: When items do not fit the specific medical or dietary needs of our current sanctuary residents.

  • Crisis Support: Providing supplies directly to local pet owners facing financial hardship to help them keep their beloved pets at home and out of shelters.

Strict Prohibition of Commercial Resale

While we may give items away to support our community, no donated items will ever be sold.

  • No Public Resale: Donated items will not be sold to the public, online (e.g., eBay, Facebook Marketplace), or via thrift stores for commercial profit.

  • No Personal Gain: Volunteers, staff, fosters, and board members are strictly prohibited from taking donated items for personal use, personal gain, or individual resale.

Partner Rescue Redistribution

On occasion, if items cannot be used by our sanctuary or our immediate community, we may transfer them directly to another registered 501(c)(3) animal rescue or sanctuary in need.
